The Substance Film
Director Coralie Fargeat's unflinching commentary tackles the demanding standards for female beauty as well as the perceived horrors of advancing years. Demi Moore offers a masterful portrayal as Elisabeth, a 50-year-old actress forced into hosting an aerobics show on TV. This produces a youthful duplicate called Sue, culminating in a progressively parasitic dynamic between them. October 17th, Paramount Plus

Presence
Steven Soderbergh tests his directorial skills through this nifty ghostly tale filmed completely from the perspective of the spirit. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe settles into their recent residence, the camera – as the unseen entity – shadows their actions. Chloe seems conscious of the poltergeist, and it looks like defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? The premise is enjoyable that remains concise, including a revelation that may be unexpected. Saturday 11 October, multiple showings, Sky Cinema Premiere
Nicolas Cage's Meta Comedy
Cage fully commits to his cult stardom via this self-referential adventure. This Creepy Thriller
The director's claustrophobic thriller stands strong without requiring a continuation. Located in 1978 Denver, multiple kidnappings has made the children frightened. When Finney is kidnapped by the kidnapper and locked up in a basement, he anticipates a terrible outcome. But the non-functional line mounted nearby continues to ring, with ghostly voices providing assistance, as the intuitive nightmares from his sibling Gwen may be his salvation. A genuinely scary movie. Saturday 11 October, 10.50pm, Film4
The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the victory is clear for greed in this director's brilliantly over-the-top biopic of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. Garfield plays the venal Jim, who proclaims early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals set about profiting from the nation's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, bad makeup and hypocrisy, yet the lead actress manages to show Tammy Faye with compassion. October 14th, late night, on Film4
